Could the Great Pyramid of Giza have been made by a supernatural force?

The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest pyramid in Egypt, with its intricate detail and precision, could it have been made by human hands alone?

In this blog post we will address the common theory that the pyramids cannot have possibly been made by humans. First covering the origin of the theory, followed by the facts to support this, then we will conclude on the theory and give our own thoughts.

The theory itself was speculated in and around the 19th to 20th century when archaeologists first started exploring into the study of ancient Egyptian civilisation. Erich von Däniken’s book “Chariots of the Gods?” (1968) contributed heavily to this theory as he argued many ancient structures were beyond the capabilities of the civilisations that built them. The theory is still very popular as we do not have an objective answer to this, leaving it up to individuals who look into this topic.

Now we will support this argument with facts and evidence from reliable sources. The pyramids itself is aligned with true north (with an error of 0.05 degrees) which considering the tools at the time would make it incredibly hard to have this precision. Whilst on the topic of accuracy, the stones used to create the pyramid are cut to a certain shape. Any abnormality in these stones would result in a lack of structural integrity and the long-term preservation of the pyramids would be in jeopardy.

In terms of the actual creation of the pyramids, the stones used has to be addressed. The pyramids were made with three different types of stone: Limestone, Granite, and Basalt. Limestone was sources from local quarries located between 6 and 9 miles from Giza. Granite was used for the construction of the King’s Chamber sourced from Aswan, which is approximately 500 miles from Giza. Finally, basalt was located around 31 to 62 miles away. Not only would these stones be hard to transport from such a distance at any weight, but these stones potentially weighed up to 70 tonnes or more. To put into perspective this is the equivalent of 35 White rhinoceros. The stones that weighed up to 70 tonnes were used for the three chambers.

On the topic of the three chambers another fact that may support the theory. The King’s chamber was built 43.03m off the ground. To lift 70 tonnes (the weight of the chamber), the ramp could not have an incline of more than 10 degrees. If we use an equation to work this out, then the ramp would have to be a minimum of 841 meters. It is thought slaves could have potentially used this pulley system however it is unclear as to the possibility of this.

From the facts, if you look at each of the main three, we have addressed separately then it is clear to see how many theorists think that even considering that a supernatural force built the pyramids to be ludicrous. However, if you combine these facts then it looks less so and has the potential to have some backbone.

Now we must address the opposing view that the pyramids were in fact made by humans. During this time period slaves were very common therefore it would be thought that slaves were used, however many archaeologists believe that the builders were simply just workers. The workforce was believed to be around 100,000 people across the span of its creation. It is certain that some of these workers would have died due to the dangerous nature of the build, but the number cannot be estimated by historians.

Although a majority of the claims made in this blog have addressed how precise and accurate the pyramids are. It cannot be understated that it is possible for humans to create such an unbelievable structure, so much so that people even theorise that the supernatural would have to be involved in some way.

We obviously do not have a yes or no answer to this, therefore opinions may differ from one another. I think that the combination of these facts above gives us enough evidence to make the argument that a supernatural force potentially built the pyramids. However, it is obviously possible that with thousands of  hours and an incredible amount of man power that this immaculate structure could have been made.

I hope you enjoyed this read, next week we will be looking at another conspiracy theory, supported by evidence and discussed by the conspirologist.
